Starting your Zoom Meeting

Starting your Zoom Meeting

As we head into new and uncharted territory this week, we at the Language Center want to initiate a service called “Tip of the Day” to offer one small tip or reminder each day on how to be effective in this new environment. We will start with focusing on Zoom, to help us all get up and running, but the topic can range to include anything having to do with teaching and learning in this new environment. We invite ideas, tips and suggestions from the community that can become a “Tip of the Day” for all of us. We hope this is one way to help us stay connected in this time of social isolation.

Today, we start with a reminder of how to start your Zoom meeting. The following is our recommended procedure:

1.  Go to zoom.umn.edu and click on the Log In button:
Zoom log-in button

2.  Authenticate with your UMN ID and Duo authentication system, if you are not already logged in.
3.  Click the word “Meetings” in the menu on the left side of the screen:

"Meetings" menu

4.  Find the meeting you are initiating in the meetings list
5.  Click the “Start” button at the far right of the line for your meeting:
